Scottie Scheffler is set to make his first appearance since the Ryder Cup. He’s participating in the Hero World Challenge this week. Interestingly, he seems to be sporting a new putter for this event.

In the past, Scheffler swapped his regular Scotty Cameron for a TaylorMade Spider Tour X prototype during the FedEx Cup Playoffs. This time, however, he’s not using a model from a major golf brand.

Olson Golf is a company founded by Logan Olson. According to his Instagram, he’s a “Metal worker, programmer, machinist and your friendly neighborhood putter maker.” Olson operates out of Humboldt County in Northern California.

Recently, Olson hinted that we might see one of his putters on tour. He said, “Over these past months, I’ve had the incredible privilege of collaborating with some of the world’s top 10 players.” He shared this statement on his Instagram and website.

He further explained, “Together, we delved into the artistry of putter design, focusing on crafting pieces that resonate with their unique styles, preferences and imagination.” This journey, according to Olson, was about more than just creating putters. It was a profound learning experience.

Olson added, “Spending time with these exceptional players and understanding the intricacies of their game has been humbling.” He’s drawn on his knowledge, experience, and creativity from the past six years. He’s also incorporated a new level of performance and technical understanding, driven by feedback from the best players in the world.

Scheffler’s Olson putter has a similar Anser-style head shape to his usual Scotty Cameron. It’s also fitted with a SuperStroke grip. The World No.1’s form on the greens has been a bit shaky in 2023, with his Strokes Gained: Putting ranking 162nd on the PGA Tour. However, he was 1st for Strokes Gained Total, Off the tee and Approach.

There’s another new addition to Scheffler’s equipment this week. He’s using the TaylorMade Qi10 LS driver. Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood were the first to use the Qi10 LS model earlier this month at the DP World Tour Championship. Tiger Woods also has it in his bag this week for his return. Not much is known about the Qi10 LS yet. The USGA’s List of Conforming Driver Heads has recorded some details. It has a carbon face, like the TaylorMade Stealth and Stealth 2 drivers. It also features a Speed Pocket and a sliding fade/draw weight to adjust shot shape. Scheffler seems to have his Qi10 LS set up in the draw position.

He kicks off his tournament at 11.41am ET. He’ll be playing alongside close friend Sam Burns. Scheffler is hoping to improve on his performance from the last two years, where he finished runner-up.
